Whalley Methodist Church

SATURDAYS IN SEPTEMBER - 6pm to 7pm - WALK THROUGH PRAYER VIGIL at Whalley Methodist Church

Everyone is welcome to come along between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturdays in September on a ‘drop-in’ basis.

The Sanctuary will be open for people to light a candle, write a prayer or a reflection or ask to be prayed with. Quiet music will be playing, so you can sit for a while and just be still. As this is essentially a ‘walk-through’ vigil, individual time spent in the Sanctuary is limited to 15 minutes.

Please rest assured that every care has been taken to minimise the risk of viral person-to-person transmission or contracting the virus from a surface. For this reason, individual tapers for lighting the candles will be used and visitors are asked to bring their own pen if they wish to write a prayer.

All visitors to the vigil will be asked to wear a mask (unless aged 11 or under) and  will need to supply contact details. Social distancing of 2 metres will be in force through the Sanctuary. Please read this document about safety precautions in place for your visit and the additional guidance information.

Call-in to this vigil on Saturdays, anytime between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. This is a special moment in time that many of us have been waiting for - when the Sanctuary is open once again after being closed for 6 months. We will still not be holding worship services for a few more weeks yet,  but this vigil is a very significant beginning.

Our main Sunday service is at 10.30am, with Holy Communion held monthly.  It has a mixture of contemporary and traditional worship.  There is a crèche and Sunday Club for children.  Coffee and tea are served after the service.

Once a month on Sunday at 9am, we hold a short Holy Communion service with contemplative music to listen to.  See the current edition of the Circuit Plan for more information.  Our weekly notice sheet can be viewed here.

Our church is a group of people who share a love of God. We enjoy worshipping, sharing in a variety of weekly activities and having fun together.

We also support and encourage each other in living our Christian lives.
